FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CITY OF WILDWOOD ESTABLISHES OVERNIGHT BOARDWALK CLOSURE HOURS

WILDWOOD, NJ – On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, The City of Wildwood introduced upon first reading Ordinance No. 1350-26, amending the City’s General Ordinances to establish Boardwalk operating hours. Upon adoption, the Boardwalk will be closed for public use during the hours of 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., year-round. No person shall remain on the Boardwalk during such hours.

The City is advising residents, visitors, and business owners of updated Boardwalk operating hours as part of our continued commitment to public safety and quality of life. This provision does not apply to emergency personnel in the performance of their duties, authorized City employees, contractors, vendors, or any person or activity specifically authorized by the City and/or the Chief of Police.

“These hours are designed to limit late-night crowds and support a welcoming friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy the best of our Boardwalk.,” said Steve Mikulski, Deputy Mayor and Commissioner of Public Safety. “We fully support our Boardwalk businesses. This is not about limiting business activity, it’s about preventing loitering, large gatherings, and the types of behavior that tend to occur after hours.”

The City emphasizes that this measure is intended to maintain a safe, well-managed environment while allowing legitimate business operations to continue. Visitors are encouraged to respect posted hours and plan accordingly.

Signage will be installed along the Boardwalk, and enforcement will be carried out by the Wildwood Police Department in accordance with City Ordinances.

Second Reading, public hearing and adoption of Ordinance No. 1350-26 will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 during the City of Wildwood Board of Commissioners meeting.

For additional information, please contact the City of Wildwood Board of Commissioners.
